Since his arrival on campus in 2019 Coach Godfrey has played a key role in the success of multiple mid distance and distance athletes with the Hawks. In March of 2020 the Men’s Indoor track and field won the MAAC Indoor Championship while the athletes in the distance events shined. The Hawk men dominated the 800 meter run as freshman Ian Moore captured the individual championship while sophomore Louis DiLaurenzio finished second. Senior Kyle Mueller was the champion in the 5,000 meter run which helped the Hawks men out distance their closest competitor in the team standings by 69 points. In March of 2021 Godfrey helped guide the Men’s and Women’s XC teams to their best finish ever at the MAAC XC Championships. The Men’s team placed second out of 11 teams while the women placed 4th. Both XC teams had their lowest point totals in conference history. Junior Louis Dilaurenzio placed 10th to attain All Conference status while sophomore Cam Janovic finished in 14th place to also earn the honor. Freshman Sebastien Reed garnered a spot on the MAAC All-Freshman team with his 26th place finish. On the women’s side freshmen Allie Pierontoni placed 6th while fellow freshmen Katie Locker placed 13th as both made the All Conference team. Both Locker and Pierontoni were also named to the MAAC All-freshman team.

Godfrey competed in XC and Track & Field while attending Lynchburg University from 1994-98. During his time in Lynchburg, VA, he qualified individually in XC for the 1994 Division III XC National Championships.
